Milk is so expensive these days! For many families, spilled milk is a down right tragedy… of the financial sort. If you’re a milk drinker or have kids in your home, you probably hear the distinct “cha-ching” for every gulp of milk downed.
If you have tried using powdered milk and it just won’t cut the mustard, you can still save on “regular” milk purchases. Get a near-instant savings on your milk purchases by simply reducing the amount you use.
Limit each bowl of cereal to 1 cup of milk use. In addition, try pouring the milk into the bowl before pouring the cereal. Visually, you’ll get a better cue of just how much cereal you really need for one serving. This works great for kids, being the cereal monsters they are.
Go one step further and cut that milk use down to 67%.
Pour 2/3 cup of milk and 1/3 cup of water together. The typical palate (which I’d guess 90% of the population has) won’t be able to taste the difference. Looks the same; tastes the same; easy savings.
Considering a gallon of milk at $4.65, a 33% savings means a sale price of $3.11. Not bad! And hey, every penny counts!
