So you have some company coming over and you’re excited to be entertaining. You’ve planned and organized and scuffled around getting everything just right. But when everyone lifts their glasses for a sip of your specialty iced tea, you realize you’ve forgotten one crucial step… deodorizing your freezer!
This time, add this step to your planning and routine to ensure fresh smelling beverages and other cold/frozen items. At least 24 hours before your gathering, place a new box of baking soda in both your refrigerator and freezer. Remove any older boxes. You can do some additional freshening by wiping the insides of the fridge/freezer with some vanilla extract poured on a cloth. In a pinch, lemon juice will work as well.
Follow this tip especially if…
- - You use ice cube trays for your supply of ice
- - You use ice cube trays to freeze any other liquids (strawberry ice, for example)
- - You will be quick-cooling any items that won’t be covered (pudding in a glass, etc.)
Bonus tip! If you’re looking for an image of baking soda, try the keyword “flour” instead!

Good idea although we generally use bagged ice cubes which don’t seem to be so badly affected by the salmon and shrimps in the freezer!
We often bake bread before guests come round as not only does it help to have beautiful fresh bread with any meal but it also makes the house smell absolutely delicious
