Who doesn’t like the taste of rice krispies treats, sweet and warm on the stovetop? Between the aroma of slowly melting marshmallows, the crispy crunchy texture of the crisped rice, and the melt-in-your-mouth tastiness of the first bite, these treats are simply classic goodness.
Now you can make the same treats, but with a couple of twists. Try this recipe method and here’s what you’ll get:
- ONE-minute prep/cook time
- Total time of under 90 seconds from first thought to first bite
- 1 bowl – no pots and pans!
- A fast, warm chocolate fix

Here’s what you’ll need:
- 1 bowl, 1 knife (or any favorite utensil)
- 1 pat of butter, margarine
- 4 large marshmallows (or equivalent minis)
- 1/2 cup krispies cereal, the chocolate kind!
- 1 sweet tooth
And here’s what to do:
- Set the microwave to 1 minute cook time.
- Melt 1 pat of butter. If you like to measure, my 1 pat is about 1/2 tablespoon, or about a 1/4 inch slice of stick butter. I tend to be a glutton and go heavier on the butter, like 1 tbsp. Melting should take under 30 seconds.
- Add 4 large marshmallows to the bowl, or the equivalent amount of miniature marshmallows. Melt the marshmallows for the remainder of the 1 minute, or until they have tripled or quadrupled in size.
- Add 1/2 cup of krispies cereal. Mix with a knife. Blend, turn and cut in the krispies until evenly distributed. This should take from 15 to 30 seconds. There is no need to overwork the cooling mixture.
And you’re done! But why stop there? Did you know marshmallows come in a strawberry flavor? And krispies cereals also come in different varieties. Try some fun combinations and see what you come up with. Then toss in some goodies like chocolate chips (melt gently with the butter first), sprinkles (mix in with the cereal), food coloring, cinnamon and more. Have fun!
Did you try it? Let me know how it worked for you!
